A lot of houses in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur are structurally fine but feel dated inside — small dark rooms, bare tube lights, damp patches, and finishes from twenty years ago. Interior renovation is usually the highest-impact money you can spend on a house you already own, because it changes what you experience daily without touching the structure.
Light is the biggest change
Most rooms that feel dark do not need more light, they need better placed light. A single central tube throws hard shadows and flattens the room. Layered lighting — cove light in the false ceiling for ambient, spots for task areas, and a warm lamp or two — changes how a room feels more than any amount of new furniture. Wiring for it is planned before the ceiling closes.
Damp, before anything decorative
Painting over a damp patch hides it for one season. Valley houses get damp from three usual sources: a leaking terrace slab above, a shared wall with no gap to the neighbouring building, and plumbing inside the wall. We find the source and deal with it before any finishing goes on, because otherwise you will be paying for the same wall twice.
What we do, and in what order
Typically: strip out, any plumbing and electrical changes, damp treatment, false ceiling, wall panelling and TV unit, flooring, wardrobes and joinery, then paint and final light fittings. Doing it in that order means later trades do not damage earlier finishes — the commonest reason an uncoordinated renovation ends up looking patchy.

Can we live in the house during renovation?
Often yes, if we work room by room and seal off the active area. Full-floor work with ceiling and flooring together is harder to live through because of dust. We will tell you at the site visit which of the two your job is.
How much does interior renovation cost per room?
It varies far too much for a single figure to be honest — a bedroom with ceiling, lighting, paint and a wardrobe is a very different number from a living room with panelling and a designed TV wall. We measure and give an itemised quotation per room so you can include or drop items.
Do you provide the design or do I need a designer?
We design and build. If you already have a designer we will build to their drawings. Most clients come with photos of what they like, and we work from those into something that fits the room's real dimensions and budget.
